Some important dates for the upcoming New Jersey primary election are fast approaching.
If you wish to change your political party registration, you must do so by Wednesday, April 16th at your county registration office. If you are not currently registered to vote, voter registration closes on May 20, 2025, which is also when evening registration hours (4-9 PM) will be available at county registration offices.
Unaffiliated voters can participate by declaring a party affiliation by April 16 for regular registration, or as late as June 9 (by 3 PM) if applying in person for a mail-in ballot.
For those preferring to vote by mail, applications must be received by June 3 if applying by mail, or by 3 PM on June 9 if applying in person. Mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Election Day (June 10) and received within six days to be counted.
For people voting in person, sample ballots will be mailed by May 28, giving voters time to familiarize themselves with candidates. New Jersey will offer an early voting period from June 3-8, providing flexibility for those unable to vote on Election Day. Polls will be open from 6 AM to 8 PM on Election Day, June 10.
